To create an ordered bar chart in Tableau, follow these steps:

  1. Connect to your data source and drag the variable you want to use as the bars to the Columns or Rows shelf. For example, if you want to create a bar chart of sales by product category, drag Product Category to Rows.
  2. Drag the measure you want to use as the values of the bars to the opposite shelf. For example, drag Sales to Columns.
  3. Change the mark type from Automatic to Bar. This will create a bar chart with different lengths based on the values of the measure.
  4. To sort the bars by their values, click on the axis header and select Sort. In the Sort dialog box, choose Ascending or Descending as the Sort Order and Field as the Sort By option. Then select Sales as the Field Name and Sum as the Aggregation.
  5. Optionally, you can add labels, tooltips, filters, legends, titles, and other formatting options to enhance your visualization.
